A Proven Method
Manipulation consists of accurately determined and specifically directed manual forces to areas of restriction, whether the restriction is ligaments, muscles or joints, the result of which may be improvement in posture and locomotion, improvement in function elsewhere in the body and the enhancement of the sense of well being. Manipulation under Anesthesia (MUA) has been utilized in manual medicine for over 70 years. MUA in recent years has rapidly become an international phenomenon.
What is MUA?
MUA is an extremely effective procedure that a patient will feel relief after only three days of 5- to 10- minute sessions.
MUA is performed in a hospital or surgery center by specially trained and licensed physicians who are certified in the MUA technique. The patient is administered a mild sedative from the anesthesiologist then during the sedation the physicians perform manipulation therapy and MUA stretches to specific tissues of the spine.
After MUA is completed, strengthening and stabilization programs are developed to build upon the MUA stretches. These programs, as well as follow-up chiropractic care, physical therapy, or manipulation treatments with are vital to the MUA successful pain relief results.
